The longest and hardest rally in the world. A human adventure.
An international event, which gathers together men and women of more than 50 different nationalities, the Dakar draws on a thirst for interaction and the open-mindedness of its competitors, who all crave to explore the deserts of the world and to push themselves to the limit. The Dakar ranks as one of the greatest challenges of all extreme competitions.

The Dakar Press Team reports on the Dakar Rally since 2004. A team of several people do the photo production of the event for a large number of media partners on the tracks and in the bivouac. Explorer Cases is one of the technical sponsor of the Dakar Press Team. All of the Dakar Press Team vehicles are equipped with our cases.

Borneo, in public imagination, means forests as far as the eye can see and life in a primal state. Unfortunately, reality is very different. Bad decisions made by men, in the last fifty years, have destroyed the 70% of the ancient forests. In this spot of the planet, deforestation is in continuous progress, and it is destroying the territory of many local populations as well as the habitat of plants and animals, including the endangered orangutan (Orang utan).

The mission of I AM EXPEDITION BORNEO is to visit and witness – through photographs, videos and articles – the state of conservation of the forests, the great climate changes of the Earth and the man’s mastery over nature effects, to raise awareness and communicate the importance of conservation of wildlife and territory.
EXPLORER CASES, technical sponsor of the expedition, supported the team by equipping them with waterproof transport cases, thus guaranteeing the protection of video and photographic equipment during the whole trip, both on 4×4 vehicles and boats, and through harsh jungle excursions on foot.

The Challenge
During the Yukon River Quest – with 715 km the longest canoe and kayak race in the world – participants are subjected by Mother Nature to a grueling ordeal, and pushed to the limits of their endurance and mental toughness. Paddling through wet and windy nights or in a blinding sun, a prey to blisters, insect bites, and extreme fatigue.

“For us it is an exceptional opportunity to show our determination and perseverance.”

Explorer Cases has supplied the waterproof cases for the protection of all the technical equipment used in this extraordinary competition.

We at GT LINE and EXPLORER CASES are proud to announce our partnership with the project HUBBA PRODUCTIONS. From Hamburg and Stockholm duo, photographer MELISSA SCHÄFER and producer FREDRIK GRANATH will work around the Arctic during the coming years. The project will result in television productions, exhibitions, and a large format photography book which will be published in ten languages, in over thirty countries in 2016-2017.

This epic tale based on actual events takes us over the seemingly endless pack-ice of the Arctic Ocean and close to the impressive wildlife which is struggling for survival in the most extreme, and at the same time most beautiful, environment on Earth. Through the eyes of a very special polar bear, we will experience a world of ice in transformation, and learn how we are within reach of the tipping point – the irreversible moment when the climate on Planet Earth begins collapsing. The Arctic, more than any other place, is our climate front line. The future of a living planet is directly tied to the future of this region. Because what happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic.

Fredrik Granath says “Work in the Arctic is demanding. It is a region which often offers the most extreme conditions on this planet. Uncompromised quality, reliability and performance need to be at the core of everything. Only the world’s best equipment and logistics are good enough. The Arctic is water – frozen and fluid. We are very proud to work with our friends at GT Line. Their Explorer Cases are the only ones I trust. No matter which conditions we face out there, we know we can always rely on them. They offer the best protection for our camera gear and technical equipment, both in the field and when we make cargo shipments around the world. And just like us, GT Line have a care for nature and the environment as an important part of their foundation.”

From her early childhood days in Hamburg, Germany, Melissa has viewed the world through her camera lens. With a background in creative and portrait photography she has always had a unique eye for the surroundings. A deep love for the Arctic and polar bears as well as a strong commitment to nature and the environment is a foundation for all her work.
